About Karen
A costume designer with 12 years’ experience working in Film, TV and Commercials. Prior to that she was a stylist working with presenters, singers, individuals and corporates.
Karen Smyth is an expert in the unspoken messages conveyed through clothes, tailoring these to interpret scripts and aid actors in delivering the director’s vision. Karen takes pride in her detailed approach and is extremely thorough in her research and preparation. Her energy and drive are boundless and a warm and engaging personality allows her to quickly build a great rapport with the production team ad cast.
Karen has a great network of suppliers, costume supervisors, assistants, seamstresses etc that allow her to build a team for any assignment. Her extensive fashion PR contacts from her work as a stylist can often assist with loan items, an advantage when wardrobe budgets are challenging.
Her studio is just 20 mins from London Waterloo and can be used for fittings.
